I study the plants of Alaska and Indonesia, with research interests that include taxonomy, forest ecology and restoration, biogeography, and phylogenetics, all usually involving biodiversity informatics. I am currently a researcher at the University of Alaska Museum of the North, Fairbanks. As a global citizen, I am concerned about climate change, forest stewardship, social resilience, and digital resistance. I worked and sometimes lived in Indonesia from 1989 to 2015 (centered at the Gunung Palung National Park in West Kalimantan). I now live near Fairbanks, Alaska.
