• Darkly-colored termites with ridged abdomens and thoraxes. The soldiers have nozzles above the mandibles, and the workers are slightly larger.

Observations:

• This trail of termites led high up and out of sight into a tall tree, suggesting that this species is at home both on the ground and in the canopy. (location: Near the consturuction site behind the study center, microhabitat: on a log and up a tree trunk, date: 29 June 2010, obs code: Obs63)
