Ross McFarland

I am a student at Harvard College in Cambridge Mass., USA. I will graduate next year in the class of 2008 and with a degree in Evolutionary Biology. My direction in biology has been influenced by my feelings about environmental issues and conservation. I had an interest in travelling to Borneo and taking this course because I feel that so much effort in conservation is being devoted to tropical issues. I wanted to see first hand if the environment here is in as much peril as we are told in the west and if the remainder is truly as spectacular as it seems from a distance. After examination here, I feel that the latter is worse than I imagined and the former is every bit as amazing as I hoped.
